I am a guy, but I guess I am
attracted to all sexual orientations. I’ve been into relationships before with
a [straight] guy, a girl, a homo, and a bi. I’m pretty confused with my
sexuality. What am i?
If
you are thinking the same thing with that guy above, well, you might be called
as pansexual. Pansexuals have the capability of attraction to others regardless
of their gender identity or biological sex.
What
does it mean? A pansexual can have sexual attractions to all sexual
orientations (it may be hetero, homo, or bi). Regardless of what a person may
be, you can still fall in love with him or her.
Right
now some of you are thinking of its difference with bisexuality. Bisexuality
denotes only two genders. They can only have sexual attractions to those male
and female sexual orientations. That is the main difference of pansexuality to
bisexuality. Pansexuality is open to people who fall at all points or even
outside the gender continuum. Let us take this for example: a bisexual can only
fall in love to a straight male or
female, but a pansexual can have a sexual attraction to all sexual orientations
in the spectrum, such as bisexuals and transexuls!
Another
term that is kind of confusing is polysexuality. The main difference with this
to pansexuality is that they can also be attracted to many sexual orientations,
but it does not really necessary mean that you are attracted to all. A
polysexual may like a straight male,
female, and bisexual, but it does not mean that he can also have sexual
attractions towards homosexuals. That is its main difference with pansexuality.
Some
people may think that pansexuals does not have any standards because they are open to all types of sexual
orientations. That is a no-no for them. A misconception perhaps. Pansexuals do
have sexual preference. Even though they like all types of people, they still
have to pass their standards (i.e.
height). Stereotyping is what they really hate.
Pansexuality
is not being greedy. It’s just they like everyone.
